Castor Oil for Eyelash and Eyebrow Growth

Castor Oil for Eyelash and Eyebrow Growth

Who doesn’t want long, thick, beautiful natural eyelashes or full, healthy eyebrows? The current trend of false eyelashes and painted on brows may be a big deal but it does not need to be part of your routine! That’s because there is a really easy way to help promote better hair growth with the use of one simple ingredient… Castor Oil!

Castor Oil has been used in the beauty industry for many years due to its abilities to improve hydration, reduce inflammation and redness, and minimize microbes. This carrier oil is full of healthy fatty acids and vitamins, but its chemical compound, ricinoleic acid is what makes it beneficial for hair growth. Studies have shown that this acid can help to inhibit a protein that causes hair loss. Castor Oil is almost completely made up of this wonderful component.

How to Use Castor Oil for Lashes/Brows

In order to use Castor Oil for hair growth, you could apply it on its own or in a DIY serum. The best time to use it is at night so that it has time to soak in while you sleep.

  1. Wash all makeup off your eyes and face.
  2. Using a cotton swab, apply a very small amount of the Castor Oil or serum to the top of your lashes or onto your brows making sure not to get any in your eyes.
  3. Sleep.
  4. Wash your eyes and face again, then apply makeup as usual.

DIY Eyelash/Brow Serum

1 tsp Castor Oil
½ tsp Carrier Oil of choice (Almond, Jojoba, or Fractionated Coconut Oil)
½ tsp Argan Oil
¼ tsp Vitamin E Oil

Optional: 2 drops Rosemary Essential Oil, Lavender Essential Oil, or Atlas Cedar Essential Oil

Mix all of the ingredients together in a glass bowl. If desired, pour into a new empty mascara container with a fresh wand. Otherwise, keep the serum in a glass container with an airtight lid.

*When using Essential Oils near your eyes, you need to be extremely careful not to get it into your eyes. If you do, use a full fat milk or carrier oil to flush it out.
